Because of Corona: An Israeli bike team "stuck" in a hotel in Abu Dhabi
Hebrew media said Saturday that an Israeli rider team is currently stuck in Abu Dhabi along with hundreds of other riders who have reached the UAE to participate in an international race.
According to the Israeli Channel (12), this came after the authorities discovered two new cases of the Corona virus among the crew of an Italian team participating in the Emirates Tour bike race.
Because of this, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (official) decided to cancel the race two stages before its end, while quarantine was applied to the participants in the race inside the hotels where they reside, including the Israeli "Israel Startup Nation" team.
Among the members of the Israeli team currently stranded in a hotel in Abu Dhabi is the cyclist Omer Goldstein, his owner Silvan Adams and Ron Brown, according to the Israeli channel.
The "Emirates Tour" was launched, last Sunday, and was expected to end on Saturday.
And yesterday, Friday, the health authorities in Abu Dhabi announced that a number of those who had two cases of "Emirates Circuit" infection were free from the virus.
Earlier today, Emirati Health Minister Abdul Rahman Al Owais announced that the number of infections in the country with the Corona virus reached 21 cases, 5 of which were similar to recovery, according to the official Emirates News Agency.
Israel is setting up a second quarantine facility
Hebrew media said on Saturday that the Israeli Ministry of Health had directed the establishment of a second quarantine facility, in anticipation of the outbreak of the Corona virus.
Private channel "13" reported that Rambam Hospital in Haifa (north) started building an isolated facility, in preparation for the arrival of Corona patients.
She explained that the step comes within the framework of "preparing for a situation that requires the intensification of medical care for patients, through the establishment of more quarantine centers."
So far, Israel has only one quarantine facility, in the Tel Hashomer neighborhood in the Ramat Gan area near Tel Aviv (center).
Meanwhile, the Rambam hospital administration stated that it started implementing the directives for setting up the new facility on a special floor, which has a separate entrance from the main hospital, according to the same source.
On Friday, the Israeli authorities announced that one person had been infected with the virus, bringing the number to 7, according to the official Kan channel.
This is the third case to be announced on the same day in Israel, as the authorities announced hours before that, the diagnosis of two HIV infections, for two people who recently returned from Italy.
Earlier Saturday, the Ministry of Health published a list of places visited by the seventh patient of "Corona", who was diagnosed as a patient, about a week after his return from Italy.
The ministry called on everyone who was on the plane with the patient, or in the places that I mentioned, for a period of more than 15 minutes, to enter immediately into a home quarantine for 14 days.
Fears are increasing in Israel of the "Corona" outbreak during the general elections scheduled for Monday.
